The Ministry of Home Affairs, or simply the Home Ministry, is a ministry of the Government of India. It is mainly responsible for the maintenance of internal security and domestic policy. It is headed by Minister of Home Affairs. Besides, the Narcotics Control Bureau, the parent department of Mizoram Excise & Narcotics Department is one of the Division/Agency of the Department of Internal Security under Ministry of Home Affairs.

                    Although the Mizoram Excise & Narcotics Department is a Department of State Government, it is also functions indirectly through the State Government under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Beside Excise & Narcotics Department, all other Departments under Government of Mizoram are under the purview of Ministry of Home Affairs as a whole.
