Two Day-Capsule Training on Drug Law Enforcement was organised by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and hosted by Mizoram Excise & Narcotics Department for Drugs Law enforcement officer from Excise & Narcotics Department (END), Mizoram Police Department and Customs Department on 9th & 10th October, 2013 at I&PR Conference Hall, Aizawl.

 

The two-day Training was inaugurated by Mr. Lalhmunsanga, Dy. Commissioner of Excise & Narcotics (Enforcement) on 9th October, 2013. The training was attended by 27 officers from law enforcing Department like Excise & Narcotics Department, Mizoram Police Department and Central Customs.


The main theme of the training was the prohibition and control of certain drugs and precursors under The Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act). It also covers on the punishment imposed by the Act. They also studies on the topic of Financial Investigation, in details.

 

 

The training was concluded on 10th October, 2013 with distribution of Certificate by Mr. Lalbiakmawia Khiangte, Commissioner of Excise & Narcotics, Govt. of  Mizoram. At the Closing function, Mr. Lalbiakmawia Khiangte, Commissioner of Excise & Narcotics stated that Mizoram is is used as the main route by drugs trafficker of the neighbouring country as it is located on the International Boundary. Besides, Ganja, Opium and other abusive pharmaceutical drugs also find its way from the neighbouring state of Manipur and Assam. He also stated that Pharmaceutical drugs like Ephedrine and Pseudoephedrine, which are precursors to Methamphetamine were also trafficked illegally to Myanmar through Mizoram. He expressed his earnest request that it was the duty of each and everyone to prevent our country from such onslaught of drugs. He expressed his gratitude to the Narcotics Control Bureau for giving training to Drugs law Enforcer in Mizoram, which would enhance their capabilities in coping such menace.
